Essex listed barn conversion

Essex listed barn conversion

This large four bay timber framed barn is located within the grounds of a Grade II listed house, close to the Essex village of Hatfield Heath. The buildings comprise a collection of barns and out-buildings all linked together. The principle barn is of timber frame construction of four bays and two storeys. The roof is finished with plain clay tiles, and has small half hips at each end. The external walls are finished in black horizontal timber boarding with a low brick plinth. To either end of the main barn are two lower barns finished with timber boarding and plain clay pan tiles. In addition to this there are also two further single storey timber framed out-buildings.

Planning permission and Listed Building consent were granted in 2015 for the conversion of the barn to a dwelling of around 5,800sqft, comprising 6 double bedrooms, all with en-suite bathrooms, kitchen/breakfast area, utility room, play room, dining room and living room. Work was completed in late 2016.
