Little Tuftes, Little Baddow

Little Tuftes, Little Baddow

A new contemporary replacement two storey dwelling in Little Baddow.

The proposed new contemporary house will replace a non-desrcipt bungalow located in a heavily treed site. The symmetrical plan defines three areas within the design that respond to the site conditions.  The proposed double height hallway and dining area acts as a central core that joins the inside with the outside at both ends. Part of the south wing is sunk one metre into the ground and topped with a split flat roof volume creating a south facing stepped approach to the garden. The northern wing has a high ridge to create a taller void space in the hallway and dining area. It has a low eaves to prevent any overshadowing to the neighbours. All features have been carefully designed to improve light, energy conservation, privacy and minimizing any impact to the street scene and neighbours.

Planning permission has been granted and work is expected to start on site during Spring 2013.
