The builders started work on this replacement five-bed-roomed house in October 2014, it was completed towards the middle of 2016.It is in a lovely position, surrounded by a very attractive 10-acre site, just outside the Essex village of Aythorpe Roding near Chelmsford. The proposed house replaces a very ordinary square detached property built in fletton brick.
The new house will have four floors, including a basement, with an entertainment room, study, family room, plant room, utility room. On the ground floor, there will be an entrance hall, sitting room, large kitchen/breakfast area and garden room. The first and second floors will house the five double bedrooms with supporting en-suite and family bathrooms.
Externally the house is finished with a selection of render, facing brickwork and timber boarding under a traditional steeply pitched plain clay tiled roof.
In the detached five-bay cart shed, there will be secure parking facilities and storage areas on the ground floor. The rooms above, on the first floor, are classed as “habitable accommodation” but the client has not yet decided how it fit them out. They may be additional sitting rooms, bedrooms, or perhaps a playroom or studio.
The basement is being built using a combination of pre-cast concrete panels and in-situ reinforced concrete floor slabs, designed and erected by the German basement specialist contractor Glatthaar-Fertigkeller.
