Completed in 2013, this office development is on the outskirts of Bishop’s Stortford. With three Grade II listed traditional timber framed barns and three curtilege listed barns, it is a substantial development. Five of the barns are now a suite of offices, all in a traditional farmyard setting, with the old farmhouse. The sixth barn was in such poor condition (see photographs below) that it was demolished, and a new nine-bay oak-framed thatched barn built. This was agreed with the council, as the grouping of the barns was considered to be historically important. The planning permission and listed building consent were obtained by Sworders of Bishop’s Stortford. Ian Abrams Architect Ltd was commissioned to prepare the necessary drawings for Building Regulations and details for the works on site, and were delighted to be involved in the project.
