This Grade II listed property is situated in a small Essex village just outside Saffron Walden. Dating from the 17th Century or maybe earlier this timber frame property had a small separate kitchen and an adjacent dining room, with a wide serving hatch between the two rooms. Adjacent to the kitchen was a small cloakroom. There was no utility room to the property. Above the kitchen and cloakroom was a small family bathroom and separate cloakroom.
The proposed alterations comprised an enlarged kitchen/breakfast area, utility room and cloak/shower room on the ground floor, including a pair of French doors leading onto the private rear garden. A new large family bathroom is provided on the first floor. Externally the extension is finished with white painted render under a plain clay tiled roof to match the existing fabric of the house. The windows are a selection of single glazed, painted timber, casement and rise and fall sashes with narrow glazing bars to match the existing windows.
