The Old Rectory, Great Leighs

This brick-built former rectory is not listed, but needed some sympathetic renovation to make the most of it. Although the original house is spacious, the rooms are small, and rather divided from the garden. We demolished an old, unpleasant and unused upvc conservatory and replaced it with an extension housing a kitchen and large living and dining area. White imperial brick walls, topped with a natural slate roof, match the original house. Purpose-made painted timber rise-and-fall sash windows to match the existing give a finishing touch. These new rooms have become the heart of the home, and lead out onto the lovely garden. It has changed the way this family uses their home.
