The work to this property involved considerable demolitions and alterations. It is surrounded by a three-acre site near the Hertfordshire village of Little Hadham. Originally, the property had two large flat-roofed, single-storey extensions as you can see in the photographs below. During the alterations both single storey extensions were demolished as well as the long rear cat-slide extension, all to make way for the proposed two storey extensions.
Planning permission was granted for extensive alterations and extensions to allow the house to have five bedrooms and a large kitchen/breakfast area, as well as a family room, study, snug and improved entrance hall. The alterations also included a three-bay detached cart shed. After the planning permission was granted, we negotiated with the local planning authority and gained approval for further alterations, including two more bedrooms on the second floor and a garden room as shown on the image below.
The accommodation is planned over three storeys, externally finished with painted render, and a selection of timber painted casement and rise and fall sash windows under a plain clay tiled roof. The main contractor was GI Hutton Builders of Black Notley.
