Manuden House is a Grade II Listed manor house in the centre of Manuden, north of Bishop’s Stortford. We’ve made many alterations to this lovely house. Internal structural alterations to the hallway have upgraded the compromised structural integrity of the property. We carried out renovation works to the servants’ quarters in the attic, where we also added new dormer windows. We designed and added a new walled garden and refurbished a large glasshouse. In 2006, we were asked to design a detached pool building to the rear of the property serving the existing outdoor swimming pool. The pool building boasts brick and flint external walls under a steeply pitched roof, all supported on a series of oak rafters and trusses. Under the large oak rafters are an outdoor covered eating area, a fully-fitted kitchen and two changing rooms. To the front of the pool building is an existing open ten-bay open cart shed that we converted, extended and linked to the main house to provide snooker room, playroom, office, gymnasium, workshop and store. A detached three-bay cart shed was constructed within this complex. We spent approximately five years carrying out the various works to this property.
