This three-bedroomed house was built on the Bardfield Road leading out of Thaxted. Special care was needed in this case, as it is within the grounds of a Grade II listed thatched cottage. To meet the criteria of the listed building consent, the new house had to be subservient to the listed property. The new house has an entrance hall, living room, kitchen and study on the ground floor, with three bedrooms and bathrooms on the first floor. Planning permission was granted in October 2014. Work was completed in 2016.
In addition to the new house, planning permission and Listed Building Consent were granted for alterations to the existing thatched cottage. Details of the proposals may be seen on the Listed Building pages of our website.
