The site is located in the Essex village of Rickling Green, to the South of Saffron Walden. Planning permission was granted at appeal for the erection of five detached houses in June 2006, comprising three 5-bedroom houses, one 3-bedroom house and a 3-bedroom bungalow. The five houses replaced two detached bungalows of no particular architectural or historical merit. The design reflects the traditional Essex vernacular of the surrounding area with steeply pitched clay tiled roofs, rendered or weather boarded external walls on a red facing brickwork plinth and painted timber casement windows. The development was completed late 2007.
